Capital Area Economic Development District (CAEDD)
The CAEDD is a non-profit corporation funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration that establishes regional economic development priorities in the Capital Area. Its members are drawn from local governments, economic and workforce development organizations, educational institutions, labor interests, and the private sector. The CAEDD is staffed by the Capital Area Council of Governments.
Purpose
The purpose of the CAEDD is: • To promote economic growth • To increase employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed people • To assist with local economic development planning • To coordinate economic development planning with transportation planning, community development programs, job training programs, and other programs and activities that stimulate the region’s economic advancement • To implement an economic development technical assistance program that includes workshops, assistance in implementing economic development programs, and assistance to local organizations in applying for grants for economic development purposes • To develop and maintain a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, which builds on county level economic development programs • To coordinate other activities supporting the region’s economic development
