Air Quality Planning

Air Quality Planning
The Department provides technical assistance and information to area businesses, government entities and community groups on regional air quality issues, with particular emphasis on pollution related to ground-level ozone. Enabled through a grant from the TCEQ, program efforts are directed at gaining a better understanding of the sources and extent of regional air quality problems by operating air monitoring stations, estimating and modeling emissions and evaluating emission reduction measures to develop an effective attainment strategy for the area. . The Department also provides support for the Clean Air Coalition (CAC).

Area Agency on Aging

Area Agency on Aging
The Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area (AAACAP), is a non-profit agency whose mission is to promote independence for people sixty years or older and their caregivers. The AAACAP is based in Austin, Texas and serves the ten counties of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson. Funded by Federal and State programs, our services are provided at no cost.

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice Planning
The Capital Area Planning Council's Criminal Justice Division has been designated by the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office as the agency responsible for regional criminal justice planning. CAPCOG CJD assists communities, local governments and non-profit entities in developing and preparing programs and projects that identify criminal justice problems which are targeted with solution based projects. Such a process emanates from the local Community Plans which develop into the Regional Criminal Justice Plan. Through this community planning process, communities develop their own strategies and projects to improve the public safety of all our citizens.

Emergency Communications

Emergency Communications
The Emergency Communications Division plans and implements enhanced 9-1-1 emergency telephone services for the Capital Area Council of Governments ten-county region. The Emergency Service Department operates a fully-equipped training/back-up facility for emergency personnel on the use of equipment and provides classes ranging from basic telecommunication certification to stress management. Homeland Security Division is responsible for the state's Homeland Security Planning on the regional level. The planning process addresses communications interoperability, mutual aid, equipment and training. On going strategic planning is done through multiple committees under the primary task force umbrella.

Center for Regional Development

Center for Regional Development
The CAPCOG Center for Regional Development works on behalf of policymakers, local governments, and citizens to advance regional planning in Central Texas. The Center's primary mission is to collect and publish data that facilitates coordination among diverse groups of regional stakeholders. By promoting information and resource sharing, we believe that regional planning goals can be accomplished efficiently and effectively for residents of Central Texas.

CAPCOG coordinates and participates in many regional committees, organizations, and task forces that require specialized skills and technical expertise. The Center contributes primarily to regional efforts in the following areas:
