Committees

Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC)

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee, formed in 1993 by a Capital Area Council of Governments Executive Committee resolution, assists the agency in coordinating and guiding implementation of the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan for State Planning Region 12. SWAC's core tasks and duties, which also include scoring and prioritizing applications for selected grant funds, are outlined in the group's bylaws.  

Membership and Bylaws

SWAC's 24-member body comprises city and county representation along with participants from the private sector, education interests and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The committee elects a chair and vice chair each year.

Meetings

SWAC meets at least quarterly, generally convening the second Thursday of each month as needed.
