Prosperous Places Program
Discover the tools and other resources available through the new Prosperous Places Program, the successor to CAPCOG's pioneering Sustainable Places Project.
For many communities, successful place-making marks the most direct path to economic growth. Building on its robust history of supporting economic development throughout Central Texas, CAPCOG has introduced a program designed to support the creation of vibrant and prosperous places.
The Prosperous Places Program offers an innovative suite of planning and analytics tools built to identify opportunities for development and evaluate the long-term effects of various growth scenarios on communities across a wide range of important issues. The analysis is used to support plans that promote a sense of place and aligns housing, jobs and transportation options in a way that complements existing community values and strengthens the economy.
Tools and Services
The Prosperous Places Program suite of services and analytics tools emerged from the successful three-year Sustainable Places Project funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Successfully applied to Central Texas demonstration sites in Austin, Dripping Springs, Hutto and Lockhart, the tools have been designed to address diverse needs while ensuring an efficient and value-minded approach to service delivery.
The program supports the delivery of more than a dozen different services within three core areas, with more services in development for the future.
- Strategic site analysis
- Place-making analysis
- Staff support services
It's all about cost-effective solutions and advanced capabilities for strategic planning and community analytics, meeting the unique needs of municipalities, economic development corporations and other community organizations.
