The Basic Peace Officer Course is designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) for becoming a Certified Texas Peace Officer and to prepare students to take TCLEOSE's Peace Officer Licensing Exam. Subjects are taught by TCLEOSE certified Peace Officers and former Peace Officers to meet standardized learning objectives and to prepare students for the realities of working as a Peace Officer. Many subjects are taught in an academic setting, while others are taught as "hands-on" practical lessons.
This is a 9 month, Part Time, police training academy designed to meet the educational needs of working adults. It runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and nearly every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. |

The Basic Peace Officer Course is designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) for becoming a Certified Texas Peace Officer and to prepare students to take TCLEOSE's Peace Officer Licensing Exam. Subjects are taught by TCLEOSE certified Peace Officers and former Peace Officers to meet standardized learning objectives and to prepare students for the realities of working as a Peace Officer. Many subjects are taught in an academic setting, while others are taught as "hands-on" practical lessons. Students are required to do Physical Training (PT) every day in addition to classroom instruction.
This is a 6 month, full time, police training academy which runs from 7:00AM to 5:30PM, Monday through Thursday. This new "4/10" schedule is intended to promote using less fuel during the weekly commute, to provide more study time for cadets, and to emulate the 10 hour work schedule used by most Law Enforcement agencies. |
