School resource officers, district administrators, and counselors are being offered a two-hour training course about noticing and reporting pre-incident indicators for school shootings and other school related terroristic threats. The Austin Regional Intelligence Center (ARIC), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI are hosting the course. Presenters from the organizations will focus on behavioral analysis, social media indicators, and avenues for reporting such threats to regional law enforcement.

The ARIC is a DHS recognized fusion center, which is a collaborative effort of public safety agencies in ten-county CAPCOG region. Managed by Austin Police Department, the center has operated since 2010 to better protect the public by providing a centralized, comprehensive, multi-agency criminal information and intelligence-sharing network to enhance the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the law enforcement and public safety agencies involved and by maximizing the region's ability to detect, prevent, apprehend, and respond to criminal and terrorist activity.

All interested parties are asked to register through the link below. Identification will be required for entry into the event.
