CAPCOG began working with a steering committee from Llano County in June to update the county’s Transportation and Economic Development Plan, originally completed and adopted in 2015. The project represents an ongoing partnership between CAPCOG and the TxDOT Austin District Office. The plan will identify economic development and transportation opportunities after working with Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham, county and city elected officials, and other community representatives.
“This plan update will work from its predecessor, but it won’t be a complete rewrite,” said Shelly Hargrove, CAPCOG community and economic development director. “We want to make sure that we give them an accurate snapshot of what is happening today, not what was going on in 2015, and address any new goals and future needs.”
CAPCOG is compiling demographic, economic and transportation data as the project gets underway but more work with the steering committee as well as community outreach will be necessary to achieve a plan with priorities identified by the county. CAPCOG anticipates the plan will be completed in late November when the Llano County Commissioners Court could consider the plan for adoption.
