Apoyo local para la demencia

The AAACAP Local Dementia Support program does much more than provide one-on-one educational support about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. It is a resource to raise awareness about dementia, early detection treatments, and providing family caregiving support for the individual and the community.

It takes an active role in educating communities about dementia diseases through local outreach by attending health and wellness fairs and other events.

Grant to Increase Local Dementia Support

The AAACAP Local Dementia Support program is funding through Texas Department of State Health Services Alzheimer’s Disease Program’s Grant to Increase Local Dementia Support (GILDS). AAACAP received the grant to increase local capacity for dementia education, support caregivers who care for dementia patients, and educate the public about early detection resources. AAACAP staff is specially suited to take on this task as its compliments other AAACAP programs, supports and services allowing AAACAP to conduct greater outreach, caregiver education sessions, and make referrals to healthcare and community partners that support dementia patients and their loved ones.
