The CAPCOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy will offer a Basic Peace Officer Course Entrance Exam for course No. 94, which is anticipated to start June 21, 2021 and should end in February 2022. The course will a part-time, evening course held at Hutto Police Department. Prospective Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC) candidates need to take and pass an entrance exam before they qualify for enrollment in the Regional Law Enforcement Academy.
The timed exam is a four-part test covering basic mathematics, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Candidates must score at least a 70 on each section of the exam. Further BPOC qualification instructions will be given after the exam.
BPOCs are designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for becoming a Certified Texas Peace Officer and to prepare students to take the State’s Peace Officer Licensing Exam.
