The Regional Law Enforcement Academy will begin its Basic Peace Officer Course No. 94 on June 21, 2021 . The 8-and-half- to 9-month, part-time, evening police training academy runs from 6 to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. This course will take place mainly at Hutto Police Department.
It is designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for becoming a Certified Texas Peace Officer and to prepare students to take the State’s Peace Officer Licensing Exam. Subjects are taught by TCOLE Certified Peace Officers to meet standardized objectives and to prepare students for the realities of working as a peace officer. Many subjects are taught in an academic setting while others are taught as ‘hands-on’ practical lessons. The CAPCOG course has been tailored to meet the needs of many of the police departments in 10-county region.
Entrance exams for this course are being held on March 12 in Austin and April 9 in Hutto.
Register for the March 12 exam.
