The Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area (AAACAP) will conduct its 6-week, health and wellness program — Diabetes Self-Management. This evidence based intervention (EBI) course provides insight and teaches skills that help people better manage their or their loved one’s type 2 diabetes.
Using a group setting that allows for a shared learning experience, the program teaches techniques to prevent low blood sugar, monitor nutrition, plan low fat meals and control stress. It provides methods that assist you in communicating with your doctors, set weekly goals to improve your health and control the diabetes, and take care of your feet.
The program is intended for those living with type 2 diabetes and who are interested in symptom and treatment management. Attendees should want to learn about proper exercise and nutrition and want to learn what questions to ask about diabetes.
AAACAP will conduct this course online, so attendees will need a computer, laptop or mobile device. Course will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, August 18 through September 22. Class size is limited. There is no cost to attend.
