The Capital Area Council of Governments Regional Law Enforcement Academy will host a Focus on Reducing Impaired Driving Among Youth (FRIDAY) Program for peace officer and those who work with teenagers to combat underage substance use and impaired driving.
Funded through the Texas Department of Transportation, this free, 8-hour course covers topics such as the alcoholic beverage code, alcohol’s effect on brain development, and investigation techniques and enforcement options related to underage drinking and underage impaired driving. It also helps officers and others learn to recognize counterfeit documents and the concealment of alcohol on a person, and teaches them about drug and alcohol trends. Law enforcement officers will receive TCOLE hours, while school administrators can receive Continuing Professional Educator (CPE) credit.
