CAPCOG recognized Darien Clary, Austin Independent School District (AISD)’s sustainability director, with the 2025 Bill Gill Central Texas Air Quality Leadership Award for her work in leading and supporting initiatives that reduce emissions, educate the community and advance clean technologies within the school district.
“Clary is someone who has been instrumental in helping this region maintain its clean air,” said Anton Cox, CAPCOG Air Quality program manager who presented Clary with the award at CAPCOG’s General Assembly Meeting on Dec. 10, 2025. “She has championed projects that increased air quality monitoring, raised local awareness about the region’s most common air pollutants, and been directly involved with capital projects that ultimately reduce air pollutants.”
- Leading green building certifications that improve indoor and outdoor air quality across AISD facilities;
- Participating in developing the AISD Electric Bus Master Plan to transition public and fleet transportation to zero-emission vehicles; and
- Coordinating the installation of community-grade air sensors at 20 schools, expanding student and educator access to real-time air quality data.
