The City of Austin is testing conducting its Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts at 3 p.m. Monday. They will be doing the test jurisdiction wide meaning residents in portions of Travis, Williamson and Hays counties should receive the the test messaging on phones, televisions and radio. There is no action required by residents. This is not a CAPCOG test.
The City of Austin has put out the following information:
What You’ll See/Receive:
- A test message on your TV, radio, and cable (EAS)
- A test alert on your mobile phone (WEA), accompanied by a tone and vibration
- The WEA message will say: “Austin Emergency Management: This is a test of the City of Austin Emergency Alerts system. No action is required. Had this been a real emergency, information would be provided for you to take immediate action. You can visit ReadyCentralTexas.org for more information.”
- This is only a test. There is no emergency.
These alert systems are important tools we use to keep you informed during real emergencies like severe weather, evacuations, or public safety alerts. Testing helps us make sure everything works as expected when it matters most.
Thank you for your cooperation and for being prepared!
