Homeland Security Division schedules mandatory workshops

Local jurisdictions seeking funding from the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant must register for one of the two remaining virtual grant workshops being conducted by the CAPCOG Homeland Security Program — 2 to 3:30 p.m. December 13 or 9 to 10:30 a.m. December 15. The first workshop was held December 8.

The webinar-style workshops will cover applicant and project eligibility; rules, regulations, and certifications; prohibited activities and equipment; investment categories; the grant review and prioritization process; and the program’s timeline and milestones. The federal and state priority funding areas also will be discussed. While regional funding has decreased annually, to about $800,000 last year, CAPCOG has worked to ensure state funds reach as many top priority regional projects as possible. Projects applications for the grant need to be regional in nature and are ranked based on the region’s Threat and Hazards Identification and Risk Assessment, State Preparedness Report, Homeland Security Implementation Plan and their ability to meet preidentified investment areas.

Local jurisdictions seeking funding from the SHSP can register attend one of the workshops at training.capcog.org.
