Classes for Prospective Cadets

Current Classes

Basic Peace Officer Course # 88 (Full-Time) Entrance Exam

Prospective Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC) candidates need to take and pass an entrance exam before they qualify for enrollment in the Regional Law Enforcement Academy’s BPOC # 88 which is scheduled to start Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 and end Friday, March 22, 2019.

The timed exam is a four-part test covering basic mathematics, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Candidates must score at least a 75 on each section of the exam. Further BPOC qualification instructions will be given after the exam.

BPOCs are designed to meet the initial training requirements mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for becoming a Certified Texas Peace Officer and to prepare students to take the State's Peace Officer Licensing Exam.

Subjects are taught by TCOLE Certified Peace Officers to meet standardized objectives and to prepare students for the realities of working as a peace officer. Many subjects are taught in an academic setting, while others are taught as 'hands-on' practical lessons. This BPOC is a 6-month, full-time, police training academy which runs from 6:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday. This '4/10' schedule is intended to promote using less fuel during the weekly commute, to provide more study time for cadets, and to emulate a ten-hour work schedule used by most law enforcement agencies.

July 13, 2018, 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Cost: $50.00
