Developing and Exercising a Debris Management Plan

The FEMA Alternate Procedures Pilot Program allows communities with Disaster Debris Management Plan to qualify for additional Federal cost share after a disaster. This workshop will discuss the purpose of a debris management plan, critical planning elements and best practices for validating a plan through workshops and exercises.

Topics covered by the workshop will include events and assumptions, collection and removal operations, important pre-identified debris management sites, use of force account labor, use and procurement of contracted services, monitoring, health and safety, public information, regulatory consideration, and conducting seminars, workshops, tabletops and functional exercises.
