Firearms Instructor Course, TCOLE #2222

This is a professional skill development training for peace officers desiring the TCOLE Firearms Instructor Certificate. The Firearms Instructor’s Course is a weeklong, 40-hour course designed to cover handguns and shotguns.

The course starts with two qualification courses that must be passed with advanced proficiency. Students will receive theory and practice in Range Safety/Management, Course Design, and Liability Issues. There are several classroom presentations/lectures throughout the week including student teach backs and student run courses of fire.

Student Pre-Requisites:

1. not prohibited by state or federal law or rule from attending training related to firearms or from possessing a firearm;

2. never had a license or certificate issued by the commission suspended or revoked;

3. currently hold an Instructor Certificate issued by the commission

Officers will need to bring the following:

Duty handgun w/3 magazines duty gear and a minimum 1000rds of ammunition

12 Gauge Police Shotgun with 50rds 00 buckshot

Eye and ear protection

Ball cap

Proper range attire

Good attitude and willingness to learn

PID # to receive TCOLE credit

No meals provided with training.

Cancel Registration

CAPCOG reserves the right to cancel a class that does not meet the minimum number of registered attendees at least seven business days before the class start date. In those circumstances, CAPCOG will provide a full refund. Students who wish to cancel their registration must cancel online or notify CAPCOG in writing (via email or fax) at least seven business days prior to the course date in order to receive a refund. There will be a $10 administrative fee for processing the refund.

"No shows" and student cancellations made less than seven business days prior to the start of class may be charged the full course fee. Partial attendance will not be permitted for any of the courses.
