Description:

Parking will be along the north side of the building in the Training/Auditorium parking lot.

This course is designed to equip law enforcement assigned to units that regularly interact with confidential informants with the latest knowledge and practical guidance. Participants will learn the essential dos and don’ts of working with informants, as well as the potential benefits and risks associated with their use. The training emphasizes the importance of confidential informants in investigative operations while highlighting lesser known but critical laws that directly impact daily operations. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to manage informants effectively, legally, and ethically.

Attendees will learn how to locate, recruit, select, develop, manage, and document confidential informants, while mastering the legal and ethical considerations that guide every step. This course goes beyond the basics, giving participants practical tools and real-world strategies for effectively utilizing informants in investigations.

Special Instructions

The CAPCOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy is not conducting this course. CAPCOG however is promoting the course to ensure law enforcement personnel throughout the region have access to professional development opportunities offered in the region.
