The CAPCOG Annual Regional Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) Workshop is for local elected officials and personnel from the public safety, critical infrastructure, emergency management in the CAPCOG region — Bastrop, Burnet, Blanco, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson counties.

During this workshop, members of those groups will meet and discuss several issues related to hazardous materials and possible response options. They will also receives updates about facilities and tools and resources available in the region. Topics to be discuss include but are not limited to:

  • The National Weather Services supporting HazMat operations
  • Emerging threats and the role of the LEPC
  • TCEQ’s State of Texas Environmental Electronic Reporting System (STEERS) and TIER 2 chemical reporting
  • Working with HazMat contractors

In Texas, a LEPC is a legally mandated organization that is established in an Emergency Planning District, such as CAPCOG, designated by the State Emergency Response Commission. Counties may have a single LEPC or may have multiple LEPCs that serve individual cities or jurisdictions.

Special Instructions

All positions are open to this meeting; however, the LEPC should contain representation from counties throughout the region. Requested attendance maybe reevaluated before the workshop’s start date. Members from non-local government jurisdictions such as LCRA, TDEM, or others are also welcome to register to attend.

Advanced registration is required to ensure enough seating is available.

To promote a professional environment, CAPCOG requires proper business casual attire. T-shirts, shorts, capri pants, and flip-flops are prohibited. No meals provided with training.
