Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC)
The Economic Development Advisory Committee provides guidance to the CAPCOG Executive Committee, which also serves at the Capital Area Economic Development District, Inc., a nonprofit corporation formed in 1989 to develop and maintain a regional economic development plan. CAPCOG is designated by the Economic Development Administration as a district, under the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965, to identify regional community economic development goals and strategies.

EDAC Purpose
- Promote economic growth
- Increase employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed people
- Assist with local economic development planning
- Coordinate economic development planning with transportation planning, community development programs, job training programs and other programs and activities that stimulate the region’s economic advancement
- Implement an economic development technical assistance program that includes workshops, assistance in implementing economic development programs and assistance in applying for economic development grants
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive economic development strategy, which builds on county-level economic development programs
- Coordinate other activities supporting the region’s economic development
EDAC Bylaws
The EDAC bylaws establish the purpose of the committee and creates the structure for how it operates as part CAPCOG as an advisory committee as well as who can serve on the committee.
CAEDD Bylaws
The Capital Area Economic Development District, (CAEDD) Inc. bylaws set the rules for how CAPCOG operates as the nonprofit district and appoints the CAPCOG Executive as the nonprofits board of directors.
EDAC Members
The EDAC membership is drawn from local governments, economic and workforce development organizations, business associations, utilities, transportation, higher education, human services, housing, growth management/development, health institutions, labor interests and the private sector.
EDAC Meetings
The EDAC convenes quarterly generally on the third Friday of February, May, August and November. Meetings are open to the public. Check the events section below for upcoming meeting details, such as time, date and location.
