AAACAP is hosting this highly participatory workshop for family caregivers to equip them with tools to improve their self care and care of their loved ones. The program uses mutual support and success to build participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. The program is offered in small group workshops once per week for six weeks.
This program will be offered Tuesdays, 1:30 to 4 p.m., November 5 through December 10 at the Buda Public Library.
Topics include:
- Self-care methods to improve caregiver’s health
- Dealing with difficult emotions
- Managing difficult care partner behaviors
- Planning for the future
- Finding resources
- Improving communication skills with family and friends
- Family meetings
- Communicating with health professionals and healthcare system
- Action-planning, problem-solving, decision-making
This program will be Tuesdays from September 5 to October 10.
