Did you know 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the United States? Did you know on an average peace officers will encounter a dog in one of three residences to which they respond? This four-hour course covers the legal definition of a dangerous canine, Texas requirements for notifying the owner of the animal, where to find information about dangerous canines and how to read a dog’s body language. The Canine Encounters course is designed to meet law enforcement officers’ educational requirements as established by legislature in HB 593.
This course also meets Out of State Law Enforcement persons trying to obtain a TCOLE license.

Special Instructions
Attendees must bring their PID # to receive TCOLE credit for courses affiliated with CAPCOG. To promote a professional environment, CAPCOG requires proper business attire. T-shirts, shorts, capri pants and flip-flops are prohibited. No meals provided with training.
