Enter the classroom through the CAPCOG training entrance. This entrance is located under the metal awning near the main parking lot.
Walk down the long hallway to the room. Signs will be posted to help with direction.
Required for all newly promoted supervisors, this course teaches the basics for making the transition from line officer to supervisor. Upon completion of the class, students will be able to set up and manage a counseling session and be able to recognize the major symptoms of burnout in their employees. Students will also be able to identify the basics of social skills and be able to function effectively by applying those skills in any type of setting either on or off duty.
The course meets the requirements for compliance with 1701.352 of the Occupations Code for new supervisor training.
The new supervisor course also updates its students about the following topics: TCOLE rules and legislative changes, role identification, values, ethics, principles, leadership styles, communication basics, counseling techniques, liability issues, civil rights, racial sensitivity, cultural diversity, and special investigative topics.

Attendee must bring their PID # to receive TCOLE credit for courses affiliated with CAPCOG. To promote a professional environment, CAPCOG requires proper business attire. T-shirts, shorts, capri pants and flip-flops are prohibited. No meals provided with training.
