Twenty-seven peace officer cadets graduated from the CAPCOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy’s (RLEA) Basic Peace Officer Course No. 92 after completing their Texas Commission on Law Enforcement exam in early June.
“We are very proud of these cadets who worked very hard at completing this tough curriculum mostly online because of COVID-19,” said Mike Jennings, CAPCOG RLEA director. Classes were conducted online whenever possible to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
BPOC No. 92 was conducted as a part-time, night course which started in September and graduated after 9 months, or 730 training hours. The cadets will be taking positions at Lakeway, Rollingwood, and Round Rock police departments; Austin Fire Department; Hays, Llano, and Travis county sheriff’s offices; Travis County Parks; and other agencies. CAPCOG will graduate its day-time Class No. 93 in late July; 25 cadets are expected to graduate. Two additional Basic Peace Officer Courses are scheduled to start in September and are testing for potential cadets.
