The CAPCOG Executive Committee will meet virtually for its first meeting of 2021 on January 13, when its members will elect the committee’s officers for the year. The committee, largely comprised of city and county elected officials, provides direction to CAPCOG staff on program implementation, budgets, contracts and general policies and procedures for managing the agency.
CAPCOG’s Nominating Committee recommended Bastrop Judge Paul Pape for committee chair, Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell for first vice chair, Burnet County Judge James Oakley for second vice chair, Lockhart Mayor Lew White for secretary, and Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham for parliamentarian. San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson, who served as the 2020 chair, will serve as the committee’s immediate past chair.
CAPCOG newest Executive Committee members also will join the meeting — Georgetown Mayor Pro tem Kevin Pitts, Travis County Commissioner Ann Howard, and Representative Erin Zwiener. Two positions on the 29-seat board have yet to be filled — the Lee County and City of Austin seats. The seats were left vacant as a result of the November elections; CAPCOG anticipates a special called General Assembly Meeting in February or March to elect the members. More about the Executive Committee is at come.
