The newly elected CAPCOG Executive Committee, which conducts COG business regarding budgets, contracts, and general policies and procedures for operating the agency, met for the first time on January 8 and elected it officers for the 2020 year.
San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson was elected the Chair of the Executive Committee. Other officer elections included Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape as First Vice Chair, Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell as Second Vice Chair, Burnet County Judge James Oakley as Secretary, and Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham as Parliamentarian. Travis County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty will serve as the committee’s immediate past chair.
Joining CAPCOG’s governing body for the first time in 2020 are Lakeway Mayor Sandy Cox, Bastrop Mayor Pro Tem Lyle Nelson, and Texas Representative John Bucy III. Cox and Nelson are familiar with CAPCOG’s work as they have severed on other CAPCOG committees before their December 2019 election by the General Assembly. At the January meeting, the Executive Committee also appointed Bee Cave Council Member Andrea Willott to fill a seat vacated by former Bee Cave Mayor Monty Parker.
