The Capital Area Council of Governments Regional Law Enforcement Academy will host an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Training (ADAPT) Program course for school campus peace officers and school education and support staff to combat underage substance use and impaired driving.
Funded through the Texas Department of Transportation, this free, 8-hour course provides training on the effects of alcohol and drugs, identifying counterfeit documents, DWI and TABC laws and regulations, Title IX information, school and college campus enforcement strategies, clothing and concealment, social media, and more. The course also can provide training on the use of Naloxone to counter opioid overdose. Those first responders who complete the course will receive a free two dose nasal Narcan kit. Law enforcement officers will receive TCOLE hours, while school administrators can receive Continuing Professional Educator (CPE) credit.
